About the GHHA

The Greater Huntington Homebrewers Association was formed in 1992 as a forum for members to explore various beer styles. The club was founded by John Szarak, who served as president until 2001. GHHA is a registered member of the American Homebrewers Association. On January 31, 1997 GHHA was incorporated as a social club is in the state of WV (WV-033-9189-001).

Our membership includes both Homebrewers and Non-Homebrewers. The club enjoys learning about and sampling various beer styles from around the world. We encourage members to identify flavors and aromas associated with various beer styles. Group brews are done to help new members learn the art of homebrewing and demonstrate how various ingredients alter beer flavor.

Monthly meetings are held in and around Huntington WV. Food enhances the appreciation of beer and is generally in abundance at our meetings. While some of our meetings are informal, others have specific themes such as:

  • Beer/Food Matches
  • Fish Fry
  • Pig Roast
  • Chili Cookoff
  • Turkey Fry
  • Beer Styles
  • Mountain Brewer Open (Homebrew Competition)
  • Brew Walk/Hike
  • Group Brews
